Chi O...<hoot>

Ok guys! Guess what? You've probably already seen it on facebook (because I'm assuming most of you..if ANY I mean - I shouldn't flatter myself that much..click on this link THROUGH facebook), but I am pledging Chi Omega, and I'm SO excited! It's going to be so much fun, and I already love all the girls and am looking forward to such a fun semester!

Speaking of this semester, on a side note, I have felt like I have had SO much stuff to do! I know in my last post I went on and on about how I can't wait to be an Elementary teacher one day (which I still of course will want and love), but right now, all these classes I have are just so intense! Great, yes, but project-infested (eek, that sounds pretty gross..but probably the best way to describe it lol). Granted the things we are making are beneficial TO us, it's just SO much all at once and with everything else going on. So yeah. CRAZY semester. Good crazy and bad crazy (only bad crazy if I get behind..which I'm trying NOT to do.)

I think I'll start putting more quotes up on my xanga..I'll start off with this one because of my newest interest.

"Chi O's were ideal partners for all occasions.
They were discrete, desirable, tactful, polite and fun.
Every mom dreamed of her son coming home with a Chi Omega..."

Decisions, decisions...

So, as early as it is, I'm very excited about my future career. I've had confirmation for a while now that I am sure that I want to be an elementary teacher, but now it's even clearer - well, sort of. Like, I've always loved the second grade age group. That it just an awesome age group and I feel like I connect with children at that age very well. But then I fell in love with the Kindergarteners my Senior year when I was an aid in their classroom. Then I had RDG320 last semester and I felt pretty confident that regardless of what grade I end up teaching, my preference would be second graders (because of the intensive reading, and that is my all-time favorite area). However, I recently was hired as a Teacher Assistant at the Early Childhood Lab on campus (which I'm SO happy about...much needed job : ) and anyway, on MWF I work with 3, yes, 3 different age groups: Toddler I, Toddler II, and Pre-K II. So....the babies age 1 through kiddos age 5.. On top of which, I'm also looking forward to my RDG314 class which will be focusing on 4th grade reading. (Feel free to pitch in advice at any time...) I guess what I'm saying is, at least I know what I want to do with my life: work with kids. I'm just having trouble figuring out which age level I would be best at! Obviously you'll get hired and they put you where they need you. I just wish I knew where I was strongest at. I don't think I'd work with the Toddlers at this point - I mean I guess I could if I was working with Headstart, but I want to teach a "grade". So, like I've said, I have got the right major, and thats better than most can say. Early Childhood (EC) - 4(th Grade). Well....I guess I'll say it again (and sorry for babbling) at least I know what I want to do, and after this pretty time consuming but helpful and fun semester I will have a better handle at where I think I'd be best placed in an Elementary school. And those are my thoughts for the day, and my preview at how this semester will go. Wish me luck!

P.S. I'm reading Pride and Prejudice right now, which I'm really enjoying. Oh, besides teaching (and what I'm about to say is really just a hobby and such), this past year I've also developed what I would call a new found love and interest in fashion! I guess you probably assumed as much since a few entries ago I commented about my "magazine" addiction..well, what can I say? Everything in them (for the most part) is, well, fabulous!

It's beginning to look a LOT like Christmas...

Ok, so I told Ben that the people that don't like me or think I'm annoying because I'm so happy and bubbly all the time better steer clear of me these next few weeks or they're going to get "Emily Prien OVERLOAD!"

I absolutely love Christmas time! And this year makes it even better because it's not even December yet and I'm already just about done with my Christmas shopping..I still can't believe that that is the case, but yeah, I'm nearly finished! I got most of it done over Thanksgiving Break, and mostly at the museum. (hehe) But hey! I wasn't trying to take the easy way out or anything. I mean, I was just working at the museum and I was like, "You know, that would make a good present for so-and-so..." or "Oh! I could totally get that as so-and-so's Christmas present." So Sarah told me to just put all the things I planned to buy in a box in the back, and I could just purchase it all the next day or so. So...that box filled! lol I mean, I kept finding things! I was thinking, "Well, while I'm Christmas shopping.." and I kept getting great ideas for just about everybody. So yeah. Just about finished. Oh, and did you check the date? That's what I said...it's November 30th! Not even December, and I am already so excited about Christmas! (Side note: I also got excited about teaching, and then was thinking about things that I could do in my classroom during the Holidays! Just some fun, simple activities like those chain rings that you snip everyday for the countdown to Christmas. Yay fun!)

You know what xanga needs? I'm constantly using the little smileys in my posts and it would be awesome if, for the Holidays, they could get a Santa smiley..a little smiley face with a Santa hat..good idea, no?

You Are Most Like Charlotte!

You are the ultimate romantic idealist

You've been hurt before, but that hasn't caused you to give up on love.

If anything, your resolve to fall in love is stronger than ever.

And it's this feminine optimism that men find most appealing about you.

Romantic prediction: That guy you are seeing (or crushing on)?

Could be very serious - if you play your cards right!

Of course!

wow...wow...

Ok, I'm going to be one of those tv nerds that posts right after an episode about the episode that they just saw. ...but I do need to update. Well, I just watched Gilmore Girls, and too bad I couldn't have been one of those American Eagle girls that chit-chat right after the show for their little "Aerie Tuesdays" or whatever it's called, because I would've had a mouthful. And that would've also been fun to be on the air right after the show. (Do you all know what I'm talking about? If you watch the show you do, otherwise, refer to the just used smiley face.) Anyway, I can't BA-LIEVE they got married in Paris! I figured they'd get engaged (which I still thought it was too soon for) but married? And without Rory?? After with Luke she insisted that things be right between she and Rory before even getting freakin' preparations for the wedding started..but anyway, like I said, I'm a nerd for posting right after watching the show. But I figured it would be a nice way to start out my evening of homework that lies ahead. Because after I blog I usually feel like just typing and typing ('cause at that point I'm in the zone) and that will help my focus with any kind of typing that is part of my homework (wow, another mouthful..)

P.S. I can't wait until next Tuesday to see what looks like a fight between Luke and Christopher. Oh boy!

P.P.S. I gave into myspace. Hello, my name is Emily, and I'm have way too many things on the internet. (...p.s. But I try not to waste TOO much time on all of it so I'm still a productive person. ...I could use some will-power with facebook, though.)

* (I'll just put Season 6 since there's not a pic yet for Season 7..just felt like explaining..cause I'm Emily and I explain things WAY too much lol)
